Description

NVIDIA Mellanox MSN2700-BS2F Spectrum-Based 1U Open Ethernet Switch: This is a 32-port QSFP28 top-of-rack Ethernet switch built on the NVIDIA Mellanox Spectrum ASIC. The MSN2700-BS2F is a managed Layer 2/Layer 3 switch supplied with NVIDIA Onyx network operating system pre-installed. This is NOT an InfiniBand switch and NOT an unmanaged appliance. NVIDIA factory part reference: 920-9N101-00F4-0X0. This is a refurbished unit, fully tested.

Engineering Context: The MSN2700 platform is built on a single Spectrum ASIC providing 6.4 Tbps non-blocking switching capacity. Each of the 32 QSFP28 cages can operate at 10, 25, 40, 50, or 100GbE, and ports support 4×25GbE or 4×10GbE breakout for fan-out into 25GbE or 10GbE access. The platform features sub-microsecond port-to-port cut-through latency and large dynamically-shared packet buffers for predictable behavior under burst. The BS2F variant ships with P2C (Power-to-Connector) airflow and includes redundant power.

Deployment & Use Cases: Suited as a top-of-rack 100GbE leaf in spine-leaf data center fabrics, as an aggregation/uplink for 25GbE racks via 4×25 breakout, as a high-throughput backbone for NVMe-oF and RoCE storage clusters, and as a converged Ethernet switch for VMware vSAN, Ceph, and Hadoop/Spark environments. The Onyx OS provides MLAG, VXLAN/EVPN, OSPF, BGP, and full streaming telemetry suitable for production data center deployment.
