Description

NVIDIA Mellanox MIS5030Q-1BRC InfiniScale IV QDR Managed InfiniBand Switch, 36-Port QSFP, Chassis Manager, 1 PSU: This is a fixed-configuration 36-port QDR (40Gb/s) InfiniBand spine/leaf switch built around the InfiniScale IV ASIC, equipped with an on-board Chassis Manager that provides in-band and out-of-band management of the unit itself. The 1BRC variant ships with a single power supply and runs connector-side-to-PSU-side airflow. This is a short-depth 1U rack-mountable enclosure with FRU power and fan support, not the unmanaged 8-port MIS5022Q. RoHS-5 compliant. This is a refurbished unit.

Engineering Context

The MIS5030Q is built on the InfiniScale IV ASIC and delivers 2.88Tb/s of aggregate non-blocking switching across 36 QSFP ports at 40Gb/s QDR each. Sub-100ns port-to-port cut-through latency is typical for this generation. The on-board Chassis Manager handles unit-level operations — sensor telemetry, port LED state, fan and PSU monitoring, image upgrade — but it is not a Subnet Manager. Subnet routing, partitioning and SA queries still require an external OpenSM running on a host or another switch in the fabric that hosts a Subnet Manager. The 1BRC build is the single-PSU variant; pair it with the 2BRC if redundant power is required.

Deployment & Use Cases

Spine or leaf switch in mid-sized QDR InfiniBand HPC clusters. Storage cluster back-end for Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS or Ceph at QDR rates. Aggregation switch in a two-tier fat-tree fabric. Test-and-development fabrics where a managed chassis is required for telemetry but redundant power is not. University HPC clusters and research compute pools.

Compatibility & Hard Constraints

Compatible with any QDR-capable QSFP InfiniBand HCA — including ConnectX-2, ConnectX-3 and ConnectX-3 Pro adapters in QDR mode — using QSFP DAC, QSFP AOC or QDR transceivers with multi-mode fibre. Chassis Manager provides telemetry and image management only; it is not a Subnet Manager — fabric still requires an external OpenSM or a peer switch hosting SM. Power: single non-redundant PSU on the 1BRC; if PSU redundancy is required, choose the MIS5030Q-2BRC. Ports are pure InfiniBand QSFP — not VPI, not Ethernet. Airflow is fixed connector-to-PSU; verify it matches your aisle convention before installing.

Why Choose T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS

Every MIS5030Q-1BRC is bench-tested by bringing up all 36 QSFP ports at 40Gb/s QDR with ConnectX HCAs, verifying Chassis Manager telemetry and confirming PSU and fan tray operation. T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS provides consultation on Subnet Manager topology, fat-tree wiring and image management. Visit tes-itsolutions.com for bulk pricing. 1–3 day handling time with global tracked shipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

What bandwidth and port count does the MIS5030Q-1BRC provide?
The MIS5030Q-1BRC provides 36 QSFP ports at 40Gb/s QDR InfiniBand each, for 2.88Tb/s of aggregate non-blocking switching capacity, with sub-100ns port-to-port cut-through latency typical of the InfiniScale IV generation.

Does the MIS5030Q-1BRC include a Subnet Manager?
No. The MIS5030Q-1BRC has an on-board Chassis Manager that handles unit-level operations only, including sensor telemetry, port LED state, fan and PSU monitoring and image upgrade. Fabric routing, partitioning and SA queries still require an external OpenSM running on a host or a peer switch hosting a Subnet Manager. The ports are pure InfiniBand QSFP, not VPI and not Ethernet.

What condition is the MIS5030Q-1BRC supplied in by T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS?
This MIS5030Q-1BRC is a refurbished unit supplied by T.E.S IT-SOLUTIONS (tes-itsolutions.com). Each unit is bench-tested by bringing up all 36 QSFP ports at 40Gb/s QDR with ConnectX HCAs, verifying Chassis Manager telemetry and confirming PSU and fan tray operation. The 1BRC is the single-PSU variant; choose the MIS5030Q-2BRC if PSU redundancy is required.
